My wife and I were on our honeymoon cruise to Mexico a few months ago, and while out in the middle of the Gulf, we spotted a small boat in the distance. Turned out it was a boat of refugees drifting, they had run out of gas, and were out in the middle of nowhere. The cruise ship turned around and went to get them. I took these photos during the rescue! The entire sequence can be found on my website at http://www.sweazea.com/vacation

They left the boat adrift in the ocean. When we docked in Cozumel, the authorities picked them up...bummer..

Well lucky for them they didn't drown, how awful for them to risk their lives in a small boat in the sea for the want of a better life in some other country.
I cannot imagine how desperate they must have been.
Lucky you guys were in the area and rescued them.
