Thinking...

Another shot of my daughter but this time in b&w. I asked her is she would pose for me and pretend that she's thinking of something serious. Lit by my DIY 12-inch beauty dish powered by an SB-24 flash unit. Thank you very much for viewing.

Well done communicating between you two to get the "thoughtful" pose, which succeeds quite well.
I really like your processing with the beautiful "shade of grey" skin tone. This is what I much prefer versus the current trend toward extremely bright to blown out skin tones and features. Yours is much like those I see in photography portraits by past master photographers.

Thank you very much, rainbow. I really appreciate your very objective comment. That would help me a lot refining my images. It's been a long time that I really want to try photographing people. I am very glad my daughter was willing to help me. Telling a model (in this case a very novice model :D ) exactly how to pose in front of the camera is hard. I pay deep respect to guys who can do this well and get paid. bowdown.gif I will keep on experimenting on this type of photography and I hope you guys would be kind enough to offer some honest C&C every time I post my work here. Thank you again. thumb.gif Oh, Btw, kindly be reminded that I only have one SB-24 flash unit with me and some DIY light modifiers to work with so pardon the very simple setup that I can work with.

    Great shot Jiro.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She looks like day dreaming and most of all, beautiful.
Like the B/W, looks like she is coming out from the dark background.

Terrific lighting. As the other comment said, comes forth from the dark but is beautifully balanced, for lovely detail but not harsh. This is art. Thank you for sharing.
