Does Geo Tagging Get Photos To Show Up On Main Google Maps Searches

So I see that Smugmug is using the google maps API for mapping the geotagged images on their site. However I don't know or see if these would be pulled into a main google maps search (with photos enabled). Any idea if it would or not?

For example I just tagged a bunch of my pictures with Makapu'u Lighthouse Hi. They are visable on the Smugmug map here:

But doing a google image search in the same area i don't see any of mine (obviously may take time to show up), or any other pictures from "Smugmug".

Overall My goal is to try to get some better search rankings on google in my area (Oahu). Anyway just curious if anyone knew answers to these questions. Thanks.

As far as I know, only Panoramio images show up on Google Maps and Google Earth.

The geography feature on SmugMug is available within SmugMug only and isn't added to Google Maps.
You can have it show in your Google Earth by using the Google Earth feed in the 'available feeds' section at the bottom of the page.

That is what it looked like to me as well. Although i knew in the past that there were other sites pictures that showed up. Maybe flicker complained. Ok, so not much SEO benefit from doing the taging. Thanks.
