When I share my photos on my FB page I get all the Smugmug "advertising" with the photo. Is there a way to block this?

Of course there is. First stop: use album descriptions in your galleries. If you have that, we'll use it. If there is no album description, we use what's in your sitewide meta, from your Control Panel, settings tab.

    I'm sorry, I don't understand you.

You can easily set an album description in your album. If you don't want one, then we'll use the sitewide meta info you put in in control panel, settings tab.

Sorry for the confusion Andy. When I post a picture directly from my Smugmug page to FB, I get the following text on FB: "Billions of happy photos, millions of passionate customers. Gorgeous online photo albums. Protect your priceless memories. Buy beautiful prints & gifts."

Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Yes. I have been trying to explain exactly how to not have that. Let me try again.

    1. You can use an album description.
    2. If you don't have or don't want to use an album description, you simply fill in your sitewide meta in your Control Panel, settings tab - with ANY INFO you want. Then this info will appear on your facebook postings.

I can't seem to find this! I've gone to the control panel>settings
After that I can't get to it. I've changed my search engine settings but that didn't do it. Can someone do a screen capture to show me what I need to be changing, please?
    Thank you

Yeah, I couldn't find it either initially, and I've been with SM for years!

    Here's some more detailed instructions:
Control Panel-->Settings Tab-->"Search Engine Settings & Optimizations" right after the "Some features like maps and badges will not work with feeds disabled." in red.

Then you'll change the description for the "Homepage Meta Description:". I think this is the right one. I can't find anything else.

Thanks Samir. That worked for one of my galleries but it didn't work for the other. It's an issue for SM heros now huh?

If you've already posted to fb, then it won't change. It will only work for newer galleries that you post. :cry

Now, I somehow recall there was a way to click on the link description and be able to change it in fb. ne_nau.gif

If you paste the gallery link directly in FB, you can chose a thumb, edit or remove that description and
    also change the title/link.

After it generates I usually delete the redundant pasted in link before saving.
