Image proportions different when uploaded

I notice that when my images are selected for display from the thumbnail or viewed in the slideshow the proportions are changed so that the images become wider. Perhaps I am locked into this because of the stretchy slideshow. Is there some way to preserve the true proportions of the 3x2 image format?

TIA

Roy

I took a look at your homepage slide show and it's set to 600x600 pixels.
At 600px wide, that should pull in the medium size images and that's what I'm seeing.
I didn't notice any changes to the aspect ratio of the images.

Could it be that your screen is running at a non-native resolution. Find an image of a circle and make sure it's not egg-shaped.

I now see that it is okay on one pc monitor and not the other screen. Have to check on 2nd one.
    Thanks.

I do notice that one monoitor seems fine but not another one.
How can I check and edit for a 'native resolution'?

On a Mac, you should find the screen settings in the system preferences app > display.
On Windows it's in the Windows control panel > display section somewhere depending on what Windows version you use. Look for display or screen resolution. It you can't find it in the control panel, try right-clicking on your Windows deskop and there should be an item for resolution.

If you use a flat screen / LCD, the native resolution is usually the largest available. If you're unsure, it might help to post the exact make and type of screen (or the laptop) you use.

The native resolution for the monitor seems to be 1680x1050 but it was set to 1280x1024 so I reset it to 1680x1050 and the shape distortion is not there.
    Thanks
