Hi everyone,
This is a great site. I have been lurking around for a few weeks...
Thought now is as good a time as any to post for the first time. I just bought a new DSLR (Nikon D50) a couple of months ago. Been using a Nikon N65 and Fuji S7000.
Anyways, I took these photos over the weekend and they don't look very sharp, kinda hazy. Do ya'll think it could be the lens (not one of the best lenses. Using 2 Sigma lenses that I used with my N65.

Any suggestions you have would be excellent!!

This one is of the TN River:

My daughter was looking for a big rock (that she could pick up) to throw into the river:

Thanks for looking,
Mel

The first one was taken at: 1/160th at F10 at ISO 800
The second one was taken at: 1/164th at F7.1 at ISO 800

I reckon the ISO had a lot to do with it. I sometimes forget that I can change the ISO with the digital camera.

So perhaps these pics were user error?? ne_nau.gif

    Thanks,
    Mel

The second one is my choice and in fact I would strive to take a pic this good. Fine by me.

I kinda agree with you that they could be better. I think they are both over exposed a bit. Your shutter speeds are pretty low for ISO 800 in daytime.

They both could be helped a bit with a polarizor.

    Just my thoughts.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the comments!!

I don't use my polarizer too much. It seems to make all of my pics too dark. Once again, probably user error here as well.

They look washed out with over exposure, but a lot can be recovered, I quickly used a couple of curves layers (cs2) and boosted the saturation
to get this.....hope you don't mind

Wow!! The colors look alot better.
Gotta get a copy of Photoshop. Using GIMP at the moment but not too crazy about it.

    Thanks,
