Wet Ones

This aphid was away from the moisture on the leaf on the rose bush - you can see water droplets on the other side of the leaf but the aphid had managed to stay quite dry. I tried to nudge it afterwards to see if I could get it nearer to a droplet but the damned thing fell off!
The early morning sunlight was coming through the leaf, so a nice contra-jour effect, though I wasn't able to fully illuminate the aphid itself as I didn't have my reflector to hand and couldn't use flash, cos that would lose the nice lighting coming through the veins of the leaf.
As I went about taking the aphid photo, I also spotted this fly resting on the side of one of the rose buds. Hard to get at this one as the flower stalk was quite central in the plant and I struggled to get past the (wet) leaves and stems surrounding it.
