My least favorite is #3, because of the harsh shadows on the groom's face (the composition is delightful though)
Since I have a more editorial style, I would've exposed #4 a little more (seems slightly dark to me). Like the angle on #6.
Overall, nice set!
#1 The dress shot was super simple - I put it in the window, then opened the drapes behind just enough to let light rip through the dress. You can't see the open drapes, but it glows.
#2 Is with a lens baby, so there's that.
#3 Was just outside of the hotel entrance in 1 pm sun. I just wanted to make a portrait in horrible light
#4 Seems bright enough to me Sphynge (I almost blew the skin tones) - are you talking about the background?
#5 Obligatory shot of the bride crying
#6 Maybe not the best shot, but the room we were in was far from beautiful so I had to find a way to tell the story without showcasing the room.
#7 Outside of some random restaurant at night. The uplight on the was supposed to be for the tree, but I borrowed it.
#8 Probably on of my favorites. We walked by this huge glass piece and I knew I needed a shot (it was a natural frame). There wasn't much room between the glass and the wall to squeeze a light (about 10 inches). I'm going to rework this (crop & shadow detail) and make a huge metal print.
#9 I just love the colors and trippieness of the shadows on the wall - cast by about 5 street lamps in a row. Then the lines on the wall where too perfect.
As I look at all of these now, the first thing I notice is how similar they look (for good or bad). Too many of these portraits are up against a static backdrop with no foreground elements. Something to work on for next time... (this afternoon).
Cheers ~

Very pretty!
Beautiful, as always - your work always makes me realise just how much more I need to stretch my imagination (and how killer technical chops like yours are the key to making it WORK!!)
Gorgeous images BTW. Nice angle during the tea ceremony...

Ted which dress? Both were pretty awesome.
Angie sometimes I don't' believe it either
Diva sometimes I just like taking a picture in the exact situation where people tell me I shouldn't. Actually #7 was taken for about the same reason. I was helping someone out at the WPPI Roadshow and listened to Bambi Cantrell tell everyone NEVER to light a subject from below - about how it makes people look terrible and all that (which I must add is generally true). So guess I what I said I was going to do?
Matt so long as they have means to pay the bills and put food on my table for my family, I don't discriminate I'd still love to see what you come up with in Yosemite.
Cheers,
patrick
T-1 month until you get to shoot my engagements, not that I'm keeping track of the time... (ok maybe I am... haha)
