Senior pictures! What do you think?

Well, my sister was married this last weekend and not only did I perform the ceremony, I was asked to shoot senior pictures of my niece... WHAT!? I was not prepaired to take pics of a teenage girl today... I did my best... My batteries died after 20 shots. I managed to fix the battery problem and took about 100 shots.

Here they are. You can tell me what you think. It may give me an idea of what my family will say when they see them.

Two things with these shots that I know most will pick up right away.
1. Eyes! My niece wears DARK eye shadow. I told here this would be a problem since I had no flash. She was OK with that.
2. No teeth. She also doesn't like to show her teeth. So this is what I have.

just some quick impressions off the cuff between phone calls .... #1 feels soft to me, and she feels too close to the top of the frame in #2. I like #3 - nice eyes - but she's got this white thing growing out of the top of her head ;-) perhaps could be cloned out (been there, done that - many times). I do like #4&5

Thanks... I am working on a few changes now. I think I can clone out the white in shot #3.

OK... I took out the "white thing" coming out of my nieces head. How's this?

Nice, but you may think about retouching the blemishes....

What focal length was the lens?

Don't know what 19.2mm equates to, but they look a little wide to me...

Yes I was. Her best friend was there also telling her to smile. She didn't want to show her teeth. I don't know why. She has a nice smile.

I kept telling her she looks mad at me. I was at the hospital when she was born... This is no way to look at your uncle who is trying to help you save money on senior pictures. rolleyes1.gif

for blemishes I just use clone brush at 40% or so and "smear" areas close by, that keeps the right color and lighting but smooths the skin. I'm sure there are more expert ways to do it though.

    Thanks Owen and Steven...

I have Photoshop CS not CS2... It does have a healing tool, but I am not sure if CS works the same as CS2. I am working on it... I will try to post some updates for you guys to look at and let me know.

    peace.

I use the cloning tool to retouch bleimishs..it seems to work well...you have to make your dot small enough so as to only cover the blemish. Go right next to the blemish and click, then cllick on the blemish. I've found that staying as close as you can to the color next to where you are fixing is the key. Getting the same skin tones is crucial and the whole process is so time consuming but well worth the work. I've also found that giving it a duffused glow can soften it so you don't have to work so much on each blemish. Eidt-filters-distort-diffuse glow set at 0/1/9. You can see where I've done it on some of my photos. I'd post them here but have had trouble in the past-think my files are too large. www.mandraleephotography.com
