Auto Color Correction

Since I can't use my PhotoShop right now I reverted back to the legit copy of Paint Shop Pro x3 I know I own. PSP does not have the "Auto Color Balance" that PS has so I've been playing. Please take a look at these two shots and tell me which one looks better.

Seriously, you should just get a copy of Photoshop Elements if you're having issues with whatever other version of PS you've got, or if you don't want to get Lightroom etc. PS elements comes with Bridge CS5, so you're good to go with the same exact processing engine and speed that Lightroom 3 has, but without the annoying import process. It'll be soooo much more convenient for color correcting weddings!

Feel free to send me a copy of the RAW file. As for auto tone I rarely use it. I have tried it and found that sometimes it's pretty good, other times not so good.
But by using the eye dropper, and tools in the Adobe RAW converter white balancing a single light color (temp) is very easy. Also for those with color blindness or difficulty with colors Photoshop offers an info tool that will provide numeric values for color. By placing the eye dropper over a specific area / color / shin/ etc it will provide an absolute numeric value.
As for giving you an older copy of Photoshop, that's usually not legitimately possible. Yes I have copies of CS2, CS3, and CS4 I am not using, but when you purchase an upgrade from one version to the next you are kinda using your original license to buy the upgrade at a discount, and the older license is no longer valid. If one purchased say a full version of CS4, and later a full version, ( not an upgrade) of CS5 then you could legitimately sell the older CS4.

I think there's a bigger problem here Fred, if you can't tell this on your own. The 2nd image is blue, not white. If you cannot see that then you are working on a system that is way out of calibration.

I agree with Andy...I couldn't figure out why you would even be asking that question. And, like Sam, I tried, but didn't like it's effect, and now never use Auto Color Balance....it's never given me anything near what I would think it should do for a given image...over all.
You might want to think about LR3...it's very nice...and, if you're in school...the academic version is like $99. If I were just starting out...and had to buy just one program...LR3 would be it. The import and export commands take a little getting used to...but, once you have that down...it's very intuitive.
Haven't used elements...it's very nice though, I've seen it on a couple of my friend's computers.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your issue...let us know what the fix is.

http://www.academicsuperstore.com/products/Adobe/Photoshop+Extended Check out the link that I posted here. If your school qualifies, you can get CS5 for $179, or CS5 packaged with Lightroom 3 for $289 without having to have a qualifying school...you still have to be a student. Not to be confusing, Academic software is offered to students and faculty at a discount...but, some schools also qualify for an even deeper discount...you have to check to see if your school qualifies for this discount. And, before you buy from an online source...check your school book store. My wife bought MS Office 2010 from her college book store for less than we could buy it online from an academic web store.
Anyway, I've used the Academic Super Store many times. My wife and all of my kids are or were in college at the same time...actually, my wife is still in school.
Good luck with your masters...

Yep...full working copy...seriously think about getting the package with LR3 in it...Photoshop is so much more than just for photography...while LR3 is just for photography.
I'm just finishing up my MS Bike Ride shoot and haven't even opened Photoshop once. I shoot RAW and post process in LR3.
Here's another program that you might like...and it's downloadable free. It's my go to photoviewer...FASTSTONE Image viewer. If you have RAW images on your PC and you no longer use XP...then you'll really like this program. Be sure to push the cursor to the sides of the image once you are viewing it in FastStone...as there are lots of option popout boxes...image adjustments, exif data, etc...
Here's the link. http://download.cnet.com/FastStone-Image-Viewer/3000-2192_4-10324485.html
