Time to Flip the Switch
The Stone Arch Bridge lights up the Mississippi River
and the Minneapolis skyline starting Oct. 17
MINNEAPOLIS (4 October 2005) – The Minneapolis skyline changes dramatically at 7:15 p.m. on Monday,
Oct. 17. That’s the exact moment when Mayor R.T. Rybak will flip the switch, lighting up the historic Stone
Arch Bridge. Twelve of the bridge’s 21 arches will be lit – with light illuminating the undersides of the arches
and bouncing off the water below.
This dramatic culmination caps off 18 months of fund raising and work by members of the Friends of the
Minneapolis Riverfront. As a result, the Stone Arch Bridge will be lit every evening for the next five years. The
organization hopes to raise an additional $200,000 to complete the original plan to light every arch.

Just last week I was down there and wondering when they were going to do that.
I'll be biking on East River Road (a shot I need to get this evening), so maybe I'll bike on up to check it out after I get my shot.
Maybe see you there. My bike is orange. Wave at me.

Wow... you know... the stone arch bride was already nice, but that's just stunning. Great improvement to the riverfront area.
I was around East River Road and Summit shooting tonight and never made it down to the bridge. The bridge will still be there tomorrow. :-)
Nice shot.
