Mapping of individual photos

It seems the mapping feature currently works only with entire galleries. I was wondering- since the georeference data is tied to individual photos- if it might be possible to embed a "map this" button to each photo, such that clicking on it brings up a map showing where that one photo was taken.
For my purposes (biological taxonomy) the gallery maps are nearly useless, but individual photo maps would be extremely valuable. I get a lot of entomologists emailing me about the locations of individual animals I've photographed, and sending them on a global fishing expedition through a large taxonomic gallery with photos from everywhere is really inefficient.
Thanks,
Alex

Well, not all suggestions are feature requests Andy. Geotagging is a poorly implemented, left-for-dead feature at SmugMug. I've been here six years and I can't recall the feature ever having a user facing revision.

I can't argue with you there. I hope we can do better with mapping stuff!

Thanks Andy. But, I see that it was already suggested 2 years ago, and has accumulated 143 votes. Is there any way to encourage the powers that be to work on this feature? It seems like it'd be even easier to implement than the gallery-level "Map this" button, since it's just a link generated from the metadata.
