I have .avi video files from my Canon SD400 that I want to post. I know that Smugmug supports only MPeg1, but the help file suggests downloading the converter app (TMPGEnc Net). I downloaded that to my PC (Windows XP) and launched it, but it didn't want to convert my file. The files are at least 35 - 50MB, and I'm not sure how to squish them down to 8MB.

Any suggestions for me? (a non-power user)

Thanks
D

Andy, do you know of a program (preferably something I can download for free) that can chomp the size of an AVI file down? I'm a Power user. If a file I have is 9MB and I just want to cut off the final 1 MB's worth of footage...is there a simple way to do that?

This is different than compressing a large file into something small...I'd just like to cut off/edit out part of the end of a file.

    Thanks!
