Arrival of a New Season

September always gets my blood up for the upcoming fall. The first of the new migrants start showing up. Pintail and Teal. Shorebirds, Sandhill Cranes. Here in California the refuges are just starting to flood the fields they have some permanent water all year but now they are getting ready for the rush of birds.
This year they have delayed the hunting season opening a week at least at the major refuges to keep the birds on that property to keep the crop depredation down.
This has been a strange weather year here as in most of the USA. So late rains delayed crop planting, cool temperatures retarded the grain development.
But the waterfowl is coming back on schedule it is good to see them even if they are not in their finest dress yet.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
