I probably took 400 pictures on this day, both of orcas and humpbacks, but at the very end of the excursion, just as our boat was heading back to the dock, I asked our guide: "Do the whales ever just come right up to the boat?" She replied, "It all depends on the day!"

Moments later, this happened.

Pretty cool! We saw whales on a boat trip out of Seward but they where far away and the 8'-10' swells on a small boat made it tough to photograph them.
