Use our HTML 5 uploader and a good fast internet connection. If you need any help diagnosing a slow connection, just email us, we have some tools that can help http://help.smugmug.com

Smugmug has several different uploaders--flash, html5, and java. Try them all and find the one that fits your workflow best. There's also third-party uploaders like smugftp.com, StarExplorer, a Lightroom plugin, and more. These are also worth exploring.

Thanks Guys I guess about 2.5 minutes is as fast as it will upload on my system for 5/10 mb images. Does this seem normal?

Randall, that doesn't sound bad generally speaking, but it really depends on what your upload speed is. Keep in mind that the advertised speed of your internet connection is usually the download speed which usually is a lot faster than your upload speed. Also the actual throughput can vary depending on the network saturation along the connection.

Sebastian is dead-on about the bandwidth. SM's uploaders that use multiple simultaneous uploads are pretty good at maxing out your upload bandwidth. You should check with your ISP to see what you're supposed to have, and then queue up a huge batch of images and see if that matches what the SM uploaders are getting. If not, there's an issue that the helpdesk can help get resolved. And then if you need more speed, you'll need to talk to your ISP about more upload bandwidth. If there isn't any, there's still some non-traditional setups like I have of using a multi-wan router and multiple Internet connections. I get an effective 75Mb/15Mb connection coupling three 25/5 connections. And it's real handy for uploading batches like the 12GB I haven't started working on today...

Every time I try it, it tells me it has a problem, try another uploader. Tried Firefox, Chrome, but it won't work for me. I'm about to give up on doing it individually.

Yeah, this is not normal. I'd get in touch with the helpdesk immediately.
