I thought you said one shouldn't photograph bums. Here you photograph work boots that obviously won't work. The boots are bums. Do these bum boots tell a story or is it just a cheap shot exploiting bum boots that are less fortunate and surely has deeper issues.

Nice try. Other may buy this but it's obvious these boots aren't retired.

If they were retired they would be on the beach sipping long island ice tea or maybe on a park bench on a sunny morning reading the paper. Not dirty and unkempt hiding in a some dark undisclosed place.

They're too yellow to show themselves on the beach or anywhere else but where BD shot them. Obviously they're hiding from work, as you said!

Yes, shot with a Blackberry. And I doubt very much the boots are abandoned. Last spring out neighborhood was transformed into the Not Quite As Big Dig by the arrival of the biggest public works project in Massachusetts since the big Big Dig - it's a redoing of sewer pipes and the storm drainage system. We had a huge crane parked in front of our house for most of the summer. It's endless.
