Issue with iPhone and data compression

I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. It isn't really a problem with Smugmug per se, but it is something you should be aware of if you are doing any app development on mobile platforms.

I have been working on an iPhone app and we had one really nasty bug we couldn't figure out. On some phones the images we'd pull off Smugmug were totally pixelated. It didn't happen all the time, but it would happen on a regular basis.

It turns out the problem was with a data compression app on the iPhone: Onava. It compresses data in the cloud before it sends it to your phone. The result is occasional images which are highly pixelated. They are so compressed as to be useless. Most images are fine.

If you are having this problem on a mobile device, this might be the reason.
