What's going on with logging in?

When I go to login from my gallery or anywhere on my site OTHER than the homepage, I am given basically two choices.......

go to the gallery I was just viewing or to the homepage

IF I chose the gallery I was in, it does NOT log me in after logging in.
What's up with that?

This happens no matter where I log in from and, if I DO happen to log in from the homepage, where it will allow me to log in.......
if I then go to one of my smugmug galleries, I'm NOT shown the feature choices that I normally see when I'm logged in. For example... photo edit choices or gallery edit choice / drop down lists.

Anybody else experiencing this and / or know what's going on?

Thanks in advance....... frustrated Smugmug Pro gallery owner :-)

I can't say I've had those problems recently, but in the past things such as disabled cookie support, etc have caused problems like that. What browser are you using? I know I read in a previous thread that you tried clearing your browser cache, etc. Have you tried using a different browser? Have you tried disabling any software that could conflict with your browsing (pop-up blockers, spyware blockers, etc)? Have you tried resetting the browser security/privacy settings to the default settings?
I have no idea what is causing your problem, but you could try a few of the above ideas while you're waiting for more help from the smugmug help desk. thumb.gif

mark - you have extensive co-branding on your site, done by mike lane. you should also double check to be sure that there's not something that's gone on in your co-branding that may be causing this. unlikely, but let's be sure anyhow.

    Thank you but.......
I'm using the same browser I've always been using, my security settings are unchanged since the day my Smugmug gallery was created, my popup blocking settings have not changed either......

I can only see that Smugmug has changed the way the login responds, once logged in. It used to be that once you logged in, no matter what gallery or place you were in, inside your website the login took and, you were able to perform whatever functions were available once logged in, in relation to where you were on the site. (example when inside the galleries, the photo edit and gallery edit drop down menus would appear).

Now it seems, Smugmug is giving a choice of whether to go back to the gallery you were in at the time you were logging in or, to your home page.
I can only guess that since this change, the problems started to appear.

It seems to me that it is a hostname issue. Instead of going to your custom hostname to log in, try going to your normal smugmug URL and logging in and working from there.
That's exactly what it is JT. When I log on to http://www.choicephotos.net/Photography (the gallery with a problem) I get the same problem as before (and I've removed all the cobranding at this point). When I go to http://choicephotos.smugmug.com/Photography all the appropriate links are there.

I'm going to test that with the cobranding in there really quick.

UPDATE: I have reinstalled the cobranding and tested the above. Mark is able to get the normal logged in state from http://choicephotos.smugmug.com/Photography but not http://www.choicephotos.net/Photography. My suggestion is to just not to worry about it and simply use the former versus the latter to update images on his site.

    Problem solved :D
