I think the sepia works well for the subject matter, too.

Also prefer the sawmill - especially with the sepia suits the old worldiness of the sawmill.

thumb.gif I like the sawmill, although the water looks a little blown-out on this monitor - can you burn out some more detail into it? Also, the upper left trees look like they might have been moving - not a problem per se, but I wonder if you might want to experiment with crops that minimize them? They're so dark against the bright sky that my eye went straight to it.

    Hi Don,

I really like the composition in this shot, but I'm seeing a very flat tonal range in the upper left diagonal portion (left of the stream line). The colors of the wood structure (brown) are very similar to the greens of the foliage. The effect is that details in the foliage and building are pretty much in the same range and hard to distinguish from each other. I think you might be able to tweak this with some adjustments to individual color channels (assuming you haven't discarded the original color information or didn't use camera level processing to shoot in monotone).

Bill, thanks for the comments. No, have have not discarded anything. These are from raw shots processed in LR3.4.1. I don't tend to use PS ( I have PCS4). I'll see what I can do with local adjustments. :D
