You are definitely getting closer. If the darn birds would cooperate and give you a clear shot you would have gone all the way with these.

It's good to be a hard critic on yourself, but I look at your stuff it's fine and getting better.
Lot's of that close stuff is luck (being right place right time sorta thing)
Ric, you are starting with the little birds! That is like practising major surgery as a first year med student. Those birds are darn near impossible to get. I have gotten a couple, on my way to other things, Like the comparatively easy big birds. A couple, that is all, and I go out a lot!
Good shots, I saw and heard a few small birds the other day, but I absolutely could not get the shot, the few times I actually got a glimpse of the bird.

Birds are definitely a challenge...but...what the heck. Gotta do something!
Did you see my "Birding Buddy" post? I have help now.
well I like the posts all most all of my little birds are in trees or brush and you get the cleanest shot you can .shoot them were they live in nature I like this kind of shot more than a post with a rope around it's leg
Rick, you say you're shooting for good, I'd say you got there. Good shots. I think what you're really going for now is great...let's see 'em!
Hi David,
Thank you.
When I was in Canada recently, there were other photographers that just blew me away. One guy had been shooting digital for less than a year and his birds were great. Of course he did have the 300L f/4 IS lens.....$$$$$....oh well.

Hi Jeff,
I don't mind the twigs and clutter of the bush so much, it's the detailed texture that I'm after. Guess I'm going to have to ask Santa for an L lens.

Hi Ric,
I have to agree with David in that they are already good. And as Ginger pointed out, the little ones are just plain impossible to get (unless you bribe them:D. If not for the foreground leaves, I think #1 would have really stood out. Good shots all.

Thanks, Chris.
I had some 'almosts' again today. Some stupid mistakes and the lack of good light and, of course, those flighty birds. :pissed+:confused
