Political events

My local chamber of commerce called me today as my claim to fame around here is event photography. One of the Chamber directors will be running for town board and they want me to photograph the fundraiser.

I have experience and knowledge doing events in general. Are there any tips I need to know about doing political events specifically?

In general I think most people donating their money would like a nice photo with their candidate.

Find a nice place for this and have a line form and take a lot of photos of hand shaking while smiling and looking at the camera.

Don't forget to charge enuff so you can donate from your proceeds also.....to the candidate of your choice.........make the images one size and I suggest 8x10.......

The fund raiser I shot was contracted by the Senators staff. They paid one price and got the high res files. They wanted the images and to provide prints for the contributors.

Fred's fund raiser seems to be on a much smaller scale, so the candidate may not rake enough in to provide very many goodies for their supporters.

PS: Candidates are normally pretty tight with what they are willing to pay out. After all it's their hard earned (begged for, promises made, etc) money destined to gain them a great new job. They don't waste that money, only ours.

So true Sam. It's a small town board member's fundraiser. When he gets in office he'll waste our money but until then he's a bit tight fisted. Initially they didn't want to pay me anything. I talked them into it though.
