A little MX action from Wyoming
We were invited up to do the event photos at the Wyoming State MX Championship in Rock Springs a few weeks ago. 2 days of photographing 3 motos. Classes ranged from kids so small they disappeared into ruts to very fast regional pros. We had a great time, and again, learned a lot about managing this type of event.
Here are some of my favorites. It was hard to choose. And there are probably ones I forgot too. I need to get better at flagging my favorites as we are sorting.
Feed back is always welcome and appreciated. What do you guys think?

One question. Do the shots with the tops of helmets and/or bottom with tires clipped off sell as well as with the whole racer and bike? Just curious. Like in 3, 5, and 10 I really love the up close in your face shot especially seeing the eyes and faces. Just curious how they do compared to shots like 2, 4, 8 etc with everything in frame?
Thanks,
Andy

Andy, I think people like both. The big seller for us is custom CDs with all of their photos. The goal for me is to make them really hard to decide. Then they get them all. It ends up much better than 1 or 2 prints. For printing it is 50/50 on what they choose. I end up with the shots right before the head and wheel chop off too, so people can choose which one they like. I generally will blast off 3 shots. Usually 1 is a little soon, 1 is perfect and one is possibly even more perfect and super tight, or just a head chopped off. But I like the super tight shots. Racer X style. It grabs peoples attention when they are viewing them on site too. Nothing like seeing some sharp eyeballs!
All of these are un cropped and have only had slight tweaks in LR. The goal is for them to look good and be viewed right away at the event. Then when they buy something, I spend a few minutes tweaking exposure and other things.
