At last, after a few months, I've finally sold some pics via my smugmug site. I'd taken photos at a mountain bike race on the weekend and someone has bought download images of themselves riding in the race. I have sold photos at other places before now, but this is the first sale and I hope the first of many. :clap

Your first hurdle is clear clap.gif

it's been tough to sell. I mainly sell a few kids sports shots that i take at my own kids games and every once in a while a landscape but never big sales.... I just scored my first large sale at the local hospital in the area I live in, but I had been talking with them for a couple of years and when they were active in deciding, it took 2 months to walk the sale through to completion... it's hard work, but it can be done.

Hopefully this is the first of many for you, congrats.

Thanks Lee. I've had a local exhibition and sold photos there and sold some at a market last month. I was supposed to be at the market right now (it's Saturday morning here) but the weather isn't very nice outside and I didn't want to water damage my stock so have stayed home. I'm working at developing a name in my area for nature photography, which is what I've sold mostly. But the odd sports event here and there has brought me the occasional sale and I was pleased that the system here works perfectly for that.

And the fact that it's hands free is so very nice... some folks have complained about the 15% hit, but I feel it's well worth it for all that SM & Co. provide.

It's called 'running a business' and there are expected costs to running a business. I think the service is great and I came here because it saved me reinventing the wheel trying to do the same thing for my own site. :D
