I am on my annual visit to mid-coast Maine. Looking forward to my various meetups with you Maine DGrinners. :D

Here are a couple of shots from this morning's sunrise (9/28/11) on the Sheepscot River. As always, C&C appreciated.

Thanks, Lauren

    # 3 is awesome but I really like the first shot too. I feel like I can walk right down that dock, makes me feel like I am there.

That last one truly is gorgeous! You caught the perfect time of day for that and the crop works great, too.

    Yay for Dgrin meetups :D

I agree with the others. Great light but I have a hard time choosing between #1 and #3.

Thanks, Tom. I am happy with #1 because it was on my "bucket list" of photographs to make. Big weather change today--cloudy and rainy, no visible sunrise today.

    Cheers,

I'm torn too. #3 is brilliant but I really like #1 - an ethereal quality to it.

Hopefully we'll find some more great shots when you get up here next week! Can't wait!

    Number 3 is top.
I like number 3. #2 is good but needs cropping and better composition.

#3 rocks (in part because it's cropped like a pano which I personally prefer for sunrises and sunsets). Recropping #2 closer to a pano (crop off roughly the top third of the current shot) improves it noticeably.

Looks like you had a spectacular sunrise - thank you for sharing it!

Thanks, Thwack. Here is a cropped shot of the sailboat similar to #2. This one was shot the day before the original posts. This shot is pretty much SOOC except for the crop and a tiny exposure tweak. The colors were spectacular indeed.

What are your thoughts on this version?

very nice set there !! lovely colors !! I also like the wide angle of the third shot, it has a nice compositional element there with the Pier leading in from the right corner

Interesting, but the boat is too centered for me and becomes the focal point rather than a simple silhouetted shape.

Slicing off the top of your original #2 shot works better for me…but it's FAR more important to ask, what do you think of that shot.
