HDR on the NW Backcountry trails

Hey.
So I have been playing a little with HDR. Not really into the extreme HDR look, but I like the way you can use it to help out in difficult lighting situations.

Well, as usual, when I have some free time I like to spend it either on my bike or with my camera. So this last weekend I did both :D

Weather was looking a bit nasty but it's only going to get worse, so I packed my camera and tripod in my waterproof pack, hopped on the bike and went adventuring :clap

Saturday I did a quick ride up in the Nestucca OHV area

Sunday I got really lucky with the weather!
I headed up to Trillium Lake on backroads and rain was all around but I only hit a few sprinkles for about 10 min or so.

All in all it was a really fun day. I learned a few things about HDR, Photomatrix and played with merging images into panoramas.
I plan on getting out a few more times the next few weeks. The fall colors should be getting good soon.

    nw scout,

I always love looking at your photos. These High Range Dynamic:patch shots are all very nice. The bridge shot is my favorite. The last one is the only one I would've immediately recognized as an HDR, (not that that is a bad thing IMO).

Wonderful use of HDR! I hate the over processed ones.

Wow, very nice looking shots! What methods did you use to post process these? I often go hiking and find that taking shots like this in forsts in the Pacific Northwest are difficult because of the light.

So beautiful! I love all the lush emerald greenery and those wonderful ferns carpeting the woods! Would be a nice print ad for Honda!

I confess that I like the third one without the bike. It has such wonderful composition and nice atmosphere in it that I myself wouldn't put a bike in it (sorry :hide). Not that there are anything wrong with bikes, they're gentle creatures ;-)

I like them all, but I don't like the bike at all. #3 is my favorite for composition and pattern... bike excluded :)
