Ezprints v. Bay Photo

While I should have done this earlier, I recently ordered prints of the same 10 images from Ezprints and Bay Photo through my Smugmug site. From each printer, I ordered color corrected and un-color corrected photos. My intent was to determine if color correction was necessary given the typical locations where I take pictures.
While I am still gathering opinions as to the best set of prints, I was surprised by the differences in "sharpness" between the two printers. (I am not sure sharpness is the correct word.) Basically the prints from Bay Photo looked soft when compared to those from Ezprints. There seemed to be more detail in the prints from Ezprints, such as more definition in the hair or in a subject’s dental braces.
Does anyone else have any experience with this?

One possible reason for the difference is that Bay does not add any sharpening when the do their color correction, whereas the color correction process at EZPrints does.
