Very well done!! I am not usually a fan of the bug macros. Don't get me wrong, they are cool and all, just not what I would want hanging on a wall. :) I like these though. Love the green background and colors in play in these. As for your question, I have no idea. I am not up to speed on my bee types.

heheh Phil from Iowa, I think you'll find the vast majority of macros posted here are bugs ;).

Phil (goldenorfe). Excellently done mate. Great detail. Your control over the MPE-65 handheld is fantastic. I have a couple of shots of the very same bee that I haven't looked at fully yet. Not a patch on yours of course :). Mind you I recall holding that nettle leaf in the wrong place. /forehead slap.

:) the vast majority of macros everywhere are bugs. And I agree, they are neat, just wouldn't put them on a wall.

How do you guys get this much jaw-dropping magnification? (And this much DoF unless you are focus stacking?)
I dont get this much mag with 3 ET's stacked together on my 100 mm macro lens (which makes it somewhere around 2x mag?)
Short of buying the Mp-E 65mm, what can I do to increase mag? Lens stacking? I saw a pic from LordV where I thought he had a small device attached on the lens cap (a microscope?)

Please tell me before I start crying & pleading......
Mebbe I should put this on a separate thread.......

    Lovely captures Phil,
Think it is a sweat bee - possibly Lasioglossum sp.
