I'm so fortunate to live close to a beautiful ocean that showcases sunsets every now and then

If you don't mind me asking, what area in La Jolla are these from? I always seem to "get stuck" right in the area near the bridge club building at the cove, but I know there are plenty more interesting areas I just need to find.

You need to go further South. Check out Windansea Beach and heaven awaits :-)

What shutter speed range are you working at?

This is exactly the kind of sunset I'm hoping to be able to capture in my new digs in NorCal. I just have to find a place and time to do it.
Are you using an grad filter?
