good first try, like composition. might be worth reducing contrast a bit and maybe a little fill light[ if you have lightroom ] to lighten the dark shadows

think this species of butterfly is probably the hardest to shoot, all the black and vibrant orange is always going to be a problem in bright sun!

Actually I used LR to add contrast, but that just me messing around too much, lol. Thanks for the advise.

very nice first try. Did you by any chance jack up the vibrance or saturation in LR? If so, you might try moderating that a bit too.

I did raise the saturation too, not the vibrance though.
