    Hi,

You also wrote us at the helpdesk and we will answer there. The site is not down or anything at this time so you may have something going on with your connection or computer.

    fishy.....

    HI Tristan,
Have other smuggers not been having intermittent down periods that last for less than a minute lately? Please be honest here, as it will save me the time to look at my connection with my router. Also, I am CONSTANTLY on my puter and the internet, and when the SmugMug down time comes (albeit briefly), all of the other sites and browsers still work, which tells me this is a SmugMug routing issue, Please pass this on to your deeper level techs. Something smells fishy.

Not to my knowledge. When we are down or in read only mode, you would see an error message from us. Your screenshot however shows a connection issue.

But that doesn't address the fact that there are no other connection issues with any other sites at the same time with the sam browser. And it also happens in very seldom. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO THE TECHS! AND LET ME KNOW THAT YOU HAVE DONE SO; I AM NOT AN IDIOT, friend. :)

You could have a connection issue to our servers. Please reply to the help desk ticket we created for you. We can have you run some connections tests from your computer to our servers to see whats up.

    Hi Tristan,

This wouldn't have anything to do with me not paying the cable company and getting disconnected and having to make a payment to get reconnected in the last ten minutes would it?

My guess is that it probably did. You'll probably be on a different IP/subnet and route, and if anything is caching, that could be an issue.

I'd run ping, traceroute and speedtests to smugmug and the smugmug cdns. And reboot everything you have. These type of disconnect/reconnect scenerios play havoc with equipment. You may have to reboot multiple times.

I rebooted everything, so all should be normalized by now...but it just happened again...see screenshot.

Pleease see attachment. Could these service interruptions mentioned in the network status somehow be related to my service interruptions?

    See attached.

I see you have a custom domain name. Try accessing the site using your xxx.smugmug.com url and see if you have the same issues.

    Hi Samir,

I tried it once, and it worked. Butthe other method works as well most of the time. Also, after I go to the initial home page, when I cklick on ALL GALLERIES, for example, the address reverts to the bobthecameraman.com format......

Nobody has answered my question: ARE OTHERS ALSO HAVING THESE ISSUES?

I don't know if it has anything to do with anything, but I went to CONTROL PANEL in my Windows 7 and left the network Homegroup.

Manually use your smugmug domain and see if that solves the problem. If it does, than it's a domain name issue, not a SM issue.

As far as anyone else having issues, the lack of responses should tell you something. I know mine works fine. ne_nau.gif

    Follow-Up with Nick
Thanks Nick. I flushed the dns cache and the other cache and cookies as well J hopefully this will work.

Currently “What do you see when you go here? http://the-camera-man.smugmug.com/” is working fine. The frustrating this is that the problems have been intermittent. Hopefully better now.

    Bob

    Hello Bob,

    Thanks for your reply.

    1) We have not heard any word of others having these types of issues.

    2) Not that I am aware of.

What do you see when you go here? http://the-camera-man.smugmug.com/

Your custom domain and your SmugMug url work fine for me.

Would you mind clearing your browser cache and cookies for us? Also, please flush your DNS cache as well. Help with taking care of that can be found here: http://www.tech-faq.com/how-to-flush-dns.html

Let us know if that helps, as from what we can see everything appears to be working just fine. Hopefully flushing the DNS cache solves the problem :)

    bobthecameraman.com > the-camera-man.smugmug.com
OK. I think I am getting the problem narrowed down. When I put in my custom address ("bobthecameraman.com"), then things start messing up. When I put in the-camera-man.smugmug.com, then things go better. Does anybody know the steps that I need to take to check to make sure that my settings for this are set right? (Is the reason that hardly no one else is affected by this that hardly anyone else has a vanity address like I do?)

    godaddy
I called godaddy. They said that there is an issue with the NAMESERVERS. they said that they are doing a "DNS refresh" or something like that, and that it would take from 24 to 48 hours.....
Just saying so that anybody else out there with this problem can get some understanding ....

This is definitely some sort of dns issue. I'd have the heros look further into it.

Lots of us here have custom domains. My setup is even a bit more complicated since I'm using a subdomain off my main domain. If your domain isn't set up correctly, you can see issues like this. Once it gets straightened out, you should never have to mess with it again. thumb.gif

    Duren,

we have one other GoDaddy customer reporting the same issue. I have validated his domain settings are exactly right so there is not much we can do on this end unless your domain CNAME is incorrect which is probably not the case. I did a dig on your domain and both the CNAME and A records are correct so I am pretty sure they are not the culprit.

I think the nameservers are mucked up and GoDaddy refreshing them will fix the issue. But it does take time for all of the thousands of nameservers to refresh around the world. So you may see some latent issues.

My nameservers are with Network Solutions and maybe that's why I'm not being affected. ne_nau.gif
