Just sharing for the fellow family photogs out there. I was nervous as this was my first non-relative family shoot. One of my concerns was that the two year old would be scared by the camera. Timing was everything. He'd sit down in a random spot for about 30 seconds, then get up and run around. We tried to keep it fun so he would not get scared. I think he did great.

My take away: Next time, pay strict attention to hair, clothes, and pose. Details are ultra-critical. Mom & Dad will not be seeing as a photographer and aren't really looking at it the same way.

I've never known a child to be scared of the camera (they all live in front of cameras these days). But your instinct of letting them run around and have fun sure proved right. Your best shots are the ones that are least posed (#3 is beautiful but definitely feels posed -- the others are much more real).
