:scratchI'm needing a new lens to go on my 7D for primarily taking golf pics. I quickly discovered that my 24-105L was not reaching out there. I like the idea of zooms for versatility; but, I'm open to all suggestions(70-200f2.8/300f4 etc..). Plus, please help me decide if it's time to upgrade to a 5D. I'm just not getting the contrast out of my 7D w/24-105 or will a different lens help achieve better contrast. Thanks in advance.

70-200mm and a 2X TC is a great budget setup for golf. Just used this set very succesfully at a PGA pro-am shooting tiger.

Could you attach some examples? I can understand that 105mm might not be long enough but, I am confused regarding the contrast problem. What is your post processing workflow?

The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, is a great lens for any occasion from my experience. I do a variety of event photography and the 70-200mm does just fine filling the frame with considerable distance between me and the subject. However if you feel that you aren't strapped for cash I'd say rent both a 70-200mm and a 100-400mm from http://www.borrowlenses.com/category/canon_telephoto. It saved me a ton of $$ by testing out the gear for a couple days for a fraction of the cost deal.gif. Hope it helps bud!
