They look interesting. The specs are off the charts. But I would have to take a second lien on my car for one. lol. Anyone else have an opinion on them?

Are you meaning to discuss the Red One and Epic?

I had seen where in one of their new video cameras, the epic I think, had individual video frames that were clean as images shot with a DSLR, which typically isn't the case for video. But I didn't know Red made an actual DSLR.

Also the new Canon 1DX can shoot video where every frame is a key frame. That would seem to me to mean that every video frame would be as clean as shooting an individual image, but I guess it will be a while before we found out if that is the case.

Red has an coming soon Scarlet model on their site. Is that what they were offering you?

Here is a link, with not very much info, from a blog

    http://www.photographyblog.com/news/red_dslr_camera

The link is really out of date though...

Scarlet has been in the works for years.

As far as the stills. Keyframed or not it still depends on frame rate versus speed of action. The reason they talk stills at all is because it is 4 or 5k in video size. Which is akin to the Still size of a 5Dmk2.

It's hard to get excited about something with so little information, no specifications, no release date and no pricing.

I remember reading about this... or hearing about it. A long time ago. That camera would be cool, though.

Edit: What did the email say?
