I have been trying to work on my site and 3 times I get the nessage "
We’re sorry but SmugMug is currently offline due to technical difficulties. We realize this is terribly inconvenient to you, but our engineers are working as quickly as possible to get the site back to normal.
We’re working hard to keep your photos safe and sound and you’ll see them soon. Please visit our Status page for updates."

I check the status and it says everything is working.

So will these outages count towards my subscription pushing my renewal further out?

This is EXTREMELY annoying. This seems to be happening way too frequently.

Yea now I have no idea what shape my code is in now. so much for trying to get anything done. I would prefer less new features in favor of some stability. I am Leary of doing any work with this.

again I ask---So will these outages count towards my subscription pushing my renewal further out?

I've never seen any type of credit given for site outages as a paying user, so I don't think they would automatically extend a trial. However, I know SM is a reasonable company and would be surprised if they didn't give you some sort of extension if you emailed the help desk.

I agree that some sort of stability is important--you can't build a business on a shakey foundation.

I don't think he said he's on a trial, did he?

My bad. You're right. I somehow read the subscription/renewal part wrong.

It would be nice to see our renewal date moved for each full day of outages, but at that point, who are we kidding--a day here or there isn't enough to compensate for any grief we've gone through.

That outage affected me as well. I left a batch of almost 10gb to upload while I left to diagnose a hard drive failure. When I returned, the batch had stopped. I was able to re-start it and complete it, but that's more time than I had allocated to that task.

When all is good and well and these outages simply cut into free time. But for those of us that have no free time, this is pretty annoying.

A day out could be a week free. At first I was thinking a month per outage but that would make SmugMug a free service. mwink.gif

It still wouldn't be enough compensation for me. I've gotten so mad before that I've lost my voice for a day or two. eek7.gif

Again, another outage right now. And the status report says everything is fine, but it's not.

Ops is working on the issue, in the meantime we're in Read Only mode where photos are visible. We'll get it sorted asap, sorry for the hassle.

    Edit: we're back to read-write.
