Northewrn Arizona Excursion
We decided to take a week out during the fall break to take my grandaughter on her first vacation. We started by camping the first weekend, her first camping experience. She couldn't stop talking about it! This was a trip that was about sight seeing and not picture taking. I couldn't help myself, I tried to control my insatiable need to take pictures to no avail. Great Trip, Not so great pics.
Then it was off to the North Rim Grand Canyon for some fall colors and witness the splendor!
But first a stop at Historic Navajo Bridge in Lee's Ferry. Always on the look out for the Endangered California Condor. We lucked out this time and saw three.
Stayed at Jacob Lake Inn for a few nites of adventure. First thing was to find Deer, and were they ever fast. No deer shots but I did get a sunset...
Old Cabin at Jacob Lake Inn
Our accomodations...
Had to take advantage of the great Prop and the more than willing model
Enjoyed the Beautiful Fall colors
Very clear and uninteresting Sky, But did finally get to the Lodge for Twilight Shot of the cyn.
Then off towards Monument Valley but not without a few stops on the way.
First stop was the Navajo back country.
Our Trusty Chariot
Then off to Kayenta and Monument Valley,
But first a drive thru Valley of the Gods and a view of the San Juan River Goosenecks
Maybe Now to Monument Valley?
Of course we have to have the Family portrait in there too..
Then while traveling home thru Flagstaff, we could see the fall colors on Mt Humphry's.
We had to stop for that!!
A visit to Lockett Meadow was definately in order.
This brings an end to a great trip!
Hope you stayed with me this far.
Thanks for looking.

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" - Wayne Gretzky
Beautiful Aspen all through the high country in the North and the East parts of AZ.
There is a website that you can find the history, Birth date, sex, place of origin, etc. of each individual Condor by entering the tag number on their wings. The California Condor is one of the world's rarest bird species. 1987, AC-9, the last wild condor, was captured. There were only 22 condors in existence, all in captivity. As of April 2011, there are 394 condors known to be living, including 181 in the wild.

Thanx Awais, It was great fun and always interesting when you have a six year old with you, seeing things like this for the very first time.

Same with me, thought not quite 60 years ago. Great memories and lessons learned.
