Shooting Rights? Question

Hi everybody I need your advice on a simple question, but possibly a not so simple answer?

My question is when at a public event, High School football game for example, I am wanting to take pictures of the people, the crowd, the spirit of the play-offs. My question is this, I am not wanting to sell these photos, I am wanting to just display them.

Is this ok for me to do? Basically a local thrift store is wanting to decorate its walls with some of my photos, they will sell "spirit wear" and want some "spirit" pictures up by the clothing, but the photos will not be for sale

Thanks, George

you would actually be safer selling the photos

what you're proposing is selling photos to a third party for the commercial promotion of a consumer product. It matters not that you receive no pay for the prints - you have no right to assign those images for this purpose without model releases.

please refer to the many various links in the "photographer's resources" sticky thread deal.gif
