Hi, I have been asked to do a series of square cards for a client which I am not entirely used to. I could use some of your opinions. I do wildlife [birds mostly] photography but with a lot of colorful backgrounds or I don't use it. Here's my question do I crop to ensure the full bird is in the card or the flowers or what have you? Here is one I did which I think is o.k as it still shows enough of the flower and all of the bird. How does it look for composition? http://www.dafontainewildlife.com/Nature/Songbirds/i-8j2LjSg/0/M/FINAL-PASTEL-M.jpg ps.my new signature is not showing so it is dafontainewildlife.com if you want to see more but beware if you are not into colour it will scare you.

Pretty Photo! Seems to me there at least two trains of thought. 1. you could easily just crop them to taste, much like the photo you link here. 2. Since it is a commission, you could sit with the client and ask them what they like for photos and cropping. I take it these are photos you've already captured. Otherwise it is easier to make certain to leave room for crop before shooting.

I mostly only do birds so figuring out a square comp when you only get a second is to hard for me cause I just semi-mastered the standard sizes in camera. Thanks for your input it is much appreciated.

Hi Ziggy, I don't have photoshop or gimp cause honestly I am pretty computer illiterate. I have a $2o dollar programme that can do some of the basics- dodge, blur, clone and crop, In the future I may learn to do more but I don't spend enough time on the computer as I am always printing.
