Having had to put down a pet at around the same age as those kids, it certainly brings back memories. I only wish I had images like these to remember him by. Fantastic work - you captured the love and companionship, which is exactly what they are going to want to be reminded of.
He looks like a wise old dog that knows it's the end of the road. Breaks your heart doesn't it? Great series. These will surely bring back cherished memories for that family.

So filled with emotion--wonderfully captured images of love! Not having a single photo of me with my beloved Murphy, I am so glad you did this for these kids. They will be grateful forever.
Thanks for sharing.

As you know I have a soft spot for our four legged friends. One of the best gifts I have ever been given behind the camera was to be able to do this exact type of session for a close friend.
We lost our own pup prematurely a while back. I wasn't prepared for the pain that it brought. We have a new dog now. Same breed. Still though.....we miss our "Pep".
Good for you for having not only the technical ability, but also the heart to be able to do this.
I've hesitated to look at this thread, because I knew it would choke me up (it has). The last dog we lost was old and it would have been miserable to take shots right at the end, but I am SOOO glad that the year beforehand was my first year with the dSLR in my hand, and I got some great pictures of him during those final months that we cherish, as I"m sure this family will cherish the ones you have taken.
I had a really hard time opening this one. Done this too many times with both pets and wolves.
Still, once the hurt passes they will absolutely cherish these. I would. Looking at him, he had a good long run and was loved every minute. It doesn't make it any easier though.
Nice, if sad, work.

Great job....and being a dog lover, I had to wipe a few tears as well. We have a 12 year old mutt that rules the house...I dread the day we have to say good bye...I need to get the camera out and get some shots of my boy.
Thanks for all the kind remarks! The mom has been having a rough time with it as the dog came along before the babies did. The house is eerily quiet. They already appreciate having the photos. Thanks for looking, commenting, caring. DGrin is a great group of folks!

very well done! What a wonderful gift. I have lots of portraits of our own dog, but none with the family members. Thanks for the gentle reminder to get them before its too late.
Gorgeous pup! The collar he is wearing was probably needed in his younger days.
