My wife and I camped at Toroweap on our way back home from Zion last week. Here are couple images from the area.

Nice shots from a beautiful place, Brad. I keep threatening to go there.

Thanks Scott. It's a long 60 miles of dirt road in there but 97% of it is graded and you cruise at 45 mph. Only the last few miles get rocky and require you to slow down and pick your lines. In dry conditions a 2WD truck can easily get in there with no problem.

Here was our campsite about a mile from the overlook.

Nice stuff Brad. Looks like you had a great adventure with the new camper. thumb.gif

I still need to get to Toroweap one of these days.

Very nice, Brad! Those clouds really make that first shot. Toroweap is cool. I've shot from that same hill your standing on in that last shot. That's a great looking little trailer. So where are the sunrise shots? mwink.gif

Thanks Aaron and Joel. It was a great trip but the air was major hazy especially in the morning.

I have several more from the post-sunset and pre-sunrise but I still need to work through them. My better ones definitely came from the evening. I might be able to salvage a couple from the morning but the haze killed many of them.

I went out to the point for sunset, late night stars and sunrise. If your there you might as well go for it. :D A full moon night at this location would be sweet.

With many, many attempts these are the only sunrise shots I was able to salvage from the haze.

Great set of images, Brad! thumb.gif

I was there about 2.5 years ago and your images are reminding me that it's time to start planning a return visit!

    Thanks Chris.

I would like to go back sometime in the summer when the sun is rising and setting farther North on the horizon. I'm sure it gets hot there in the summer but I bet with the sun's lines and potential for summer thunder storms you could get some amazing captures.

We were there in July and let me tell you, nothing says hot like Toroweap in July! rolleyes1.gif

But we did have some nice clouds to work with!

In one of the shots above you can see my new off road Karavan from Austrailia. It has A/C so I can hide in the cool A/C during the heat of the day and only come out for the sweet light. rolleyes1.gif

Now I just need to plan on getting back there during Monsoon season next summer. That could present some amazing photo ops. wings.gif
