Russian Fort Elisabeth

This is the beach right off the old Russian Fort Elisabeth, on the west of Kauai. If I understand correctly, this is the historic spot where a man, back in the 1800's, built a fort as part of a plan to overthrow King Kamehameha, so he could return power to the previous king of the island of Kauai.

We drove past this area a few times. It's just off the road but all you can see is the sign and a dirt road with a few pile of rocks. Nothing to write home about. One day, we decided to drive in and followed the road down to the coast. I was quite surprised to find what I captured in the photographs below:
