Been reading the releases on the new Canon Cinema cameras, though it has no relevance at all to my photography, thought it is interesting.

What is interesting is that the lenses (and C300 Camera) support the EF mount and are compatible with APS-C cameras. I am fascinated by these lenses, and wonder what it takes to create a 4K compatible lens, and more importantly, what is lacking from a 'normal' L lens? Remember, EF is originally designed for 35mm film. Perhaps "Super 35mm" is bigger than 35mm?

But dang, $45,000 for a manual focus 14.5-60mm T2.6 lens? Next to that, the $47,000 30-300 T2.95–3.7 L S sounds like a bargain!

I am just waiting to see some images posted from these lenses on a 7D!!!

Super 35 image size is slightly smaller than 25mmx19mm. Movie images have the long dimension across the film instead of along it like photographic FF 35mm. The lenses must be sharp enough to get their resolution from a smaller image size.

Did you see the video Vincent Laforet did with them? The behind the scenes was funny. He was holding one and he said, "I'm being very cautious with this lens, because it's the only one in existence" Laughing.gif, that's a little pressure.. Break a 1 of a kind pre-production canon lens.. not something you'd want to be known for!
