Went to their second open house. They rehab injured raptors and also birds that some tried to keep as pets that can not be released into the wild due to imprinting.
A few shots from the day.

Looks like a fun time and you add your style to the birdies thumb.gif but your red tail I think is a red shouldered

Great project and great photos. What is "imprinting," and what is the story about keeping these birds as pets? Best, Pam

    Thanks Pam
According to the volunteers that were telling us about the birds, when birds are chick they have a limited time for them to associate with birds and to learn to be birds. If they are kept as pets and only see humans for the first part of their lives, then they have imprinted to humans and can never learn how to be birds, so they don't know how to hunt, associate prey with hunting/eating, and such.
At least that's what they were saying.

Very nice set Tom. I've shot at raptor rehab centers and they do great work and as a bonus provide great photo ops.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
