I think that the key phrase on that page is "Domestic Shipments". It sounds like there is something about the Nikon D300S and D700 cameras, as well as a few accessories, that are not in compliance with "Japanese" regulations.

It does not sound like it should affect world-wide distribution of those products.

One of my NTC friends in Japan sent that to me..but without a good translation. His English is better than my Japanese :D
Something about the batteries and a Japanese compliance rule that is timing out. Part of it looks like exports, part looks like domestic only headscratch.gif

Ok its on rummors now. Its the exposed battery contacts. They are no longer allowed in Japan..in two weeks. Might be some good buys on 700's and 3s locally in Japan.

    NeilL,
I ASSume that when this came about 3 years ago, the thinking was their replacements would have the new type battery's so no problem. If I understand correctly the D7000 has these newer type battery's.
Its amazing what a earthquake, tsunami, and floods will do to the best laid plans. eek7.gif
Man I bet they cannot wait for the new year to start.

Yes I was quite dissapointed that i could not use my D300 batteries in my D7000 that would have been nice. But i could see if someone stuck a D300 battery in a pocket with car keys could be asking for trouble if they shorted the contacts. All I can say is the Battery life in the D7000 is outstanding.
