Shrimp fishing on the Belgian coast
Belgium is the land best known for its beers, chocolate and "french" fries.
One of the hidden treasures are the shrimp fishers on the coast (really only the small area of Koksijde-Oostduinkerke, two villages on the western end of our 67 km-long coastline). These shrimp fishers use heavy horses to tow a fishing net during low tide to fish for the local variety of shrimps.
Unique in this age-old tradition is a fisherman who does not own a horse, but tows the net himself.
