I like #1 much going on, shadow, dancing & the kid looking in.
Or kid scaled trumpet. I was thinking, but just may be lens distortion, that the top's a flugel horn! dunno

I believe the hand is out as just a capture in time, perhaps as the final note of the piece (more than the hand out for a handout, which is covered by a sign not in the photos).
The instrument is the same in #1 and #2. My guess is that it is a pocket trumpet -- a few twists and turns too many for a flugelhorn.
#1 I liked for the reasons Ben stated. #2 I liked the stripes and plaids of the passerbys matched with the performer.
