I am trying to figure out why I am displaying the Smugmug summary/description when I post a link to my Facebook page. It used to display what I had typed up in the muted summary area, but now it always displays "Billions of happy photos, millions of passionate customers. Gorgeous online photo albums. Protect your priceless memories. Buy beautiful prints & gifts."

My SM is http://eclecticallyforyou.smugmug.com

If you have either a gallery description, or fill out your sitewide meta info in your control panel, settings tab, you'll get your own words, -not- ours.

If you add a custom 'Meta Description' in your control panel under the 'settings' tab, we'll use it on the FB post. If you add a gallery description, we'll use it... :)

I had an album description, but it was "customized" with color and font size. Would that have stopped the description from posting? I went back and simplified the description with nothing fancy and tried the link again. This time it pulled my bio description (which has always been there) as the summary. And so then, without any additional alterations, I tried to post the link again. This time it posted my album description. :) Was that some kind of glitch or fluke?

Facebook caches things like thumbnails and might also cache link details / descriptions so after making a change to a gallery, it may take some time before the new settings are usable on Facebook.
If you ever have an issue with this again, email our HelpDesk with a specific link to the gallery in question so we can take a look:
