New Nikon d700

I got up early this morning & took a ride into down town Chicago. Helix Camera had the Nikon d700 in stock and they were selling them for $2502. That's about $200 less than the NY internet camera stores that don't have any in stock. I bought one...

Wow! Is this thing sweet!

Lucky you. And maybe this is an indication that the supply is coming back?

Even at the sale price the d700 is still about $500 more that it was before the Japan disaster. On the other hand, I was able to sell my d300s for more than I paid for it 18 months ago...

Great find! I'm trying to decide if I should jump on a D700 when the replacement FINALLY drops soon, or take the plunge and go for the new one (D800 or whatever it'll be called...)

    Thoughts??

It's always best to buy what you need. Until we know what a Nikon D700 replacement camera might be, does the D700 satisfy your needs? Is this something you need right away?
