Nice job with the light & layout. I like #1 best.

Cute! I prefer #3. #2 is a close second. The ice in #1 on the right spoils #1 for me.

I like the composition in #1 but the ice is distracting. #2 is my 2nd choice.

    There goes my first idea...
I like #3 the best; it's nice and clear with no other details distracting from the kiwi.

I think that all of these are lovely shots, but you asked for comments so here goes....

#3 Says "kiwi" the most to me, and I like that having a slice in perfect, crisp focus. Almost feels like I can taste the kiwi. Yummm.
#1 The orange slices in the background are lovely but almost compete with the kiwi. Wonder what a similar composition (without the ice) would look like, perhaps bringing the kiwi in front into sharp focus.
#2 Nice composition and pov on these slices of kiwi and orange. Would like this better if there was a bit more kiwi in the frame.

15524779-Ti.gif the ice is distracting! Maybe a crop or some cloning will get #1 up to snuff. thumb.gif

My fav is #3 - really like the DOF & the clarity. Kinda wish the focused kiwi was a bit higher in the frame & maybe not quite so centered.

I really like #1. The opaque ice on the right adds to the photo for me. It is the clearer sliver in the lower left that distracts me. Is it possible to blend it more with the kiwi in processing?

Thanks! I knew that ice in #1 was going to crop up, (pun intended) It was nice crushed ice when a I started but the lights melted it into a ball of ice....

Here is a #1 in a cropped version

Well I could break out the PhotoShop.... but I am afraid it would be too much cloning.

Here is a #4 A new image. ( a similar shot to#3 from the Same Shoot)

I think this is my new favorite. I love the backlit Orange in the background.

I ate the props with dinner, but I still have two more uncut kiwi .... So I could still Re-Shoot.
    Thanks for the input.

I would like to see some Kiwi laid out on glass with some flash lighting underneath. Or different lighting on the original shots from behing the translucent effect of the fruit makes glow.

I really like the new 4A....The soft orange in the background is just the right compliment to the kiwi in the foreground. NICE!

4a appeals to me the most! Yummmmmmmmy. That being said, on my monitor, the color of the kiwi seems off.....it's more yellow than what I associate with the kiwis we get here in the Midwest. I'll have to try it on another computer and see if it's more an issue of my monitor....

OK, Decided to give the back light kiwi a shot.

Still pondering an entry This (#5) being the top contender as of now or shooting some more.

I liked visualizing this idea as it's gone through its various iterations and feel like this last one #5, is the strongest with the backlighting really bringing the kiwi to life.

I really like the backlight kiwis too! The only thing that bugs me is the effects around the edge where it looks like the background was removed in post... I think that having a real black background with a hole for the backlighting (on a glass plate?) would be the ideal setup, and you could re-create that without the funny edge effects.

Thanks for looking and c&c. I did very little post processing, a little levels, no crop, defintely no removing of backgrounds. The background is Black Foam board about 2' behind fruit, the light is a flashlight from behind. I think the rough edges must be from Cutting the fruit. None the less, I may carefully cut some more kiwi and re-shoot if I get real motivated... but then again it is Thanksgiving, free time may slip away...
