Just returned from a family trip to Echuca on the Murray River between Victoria and New South Wales. A very nice (huge) holiday house was booked, which came complete with a bunch of extremely friendly Laughing Kookaburras who turned up like clockwork first thing in the morning and late in the evening, clearly expecting a few treats. First time I've seen one of these beautiful birds up close.

Ok, I have one comment to make and that is light control. I notice that in all the shots the Kookaburra doesn't stick out (except the third). I most cases the Kookaburra is suffering from underexposure with a bright background.

I would try to use a fill-in flash with this kind of pictures. So you can control the ambient light and have a correct exposed bird.

Thanks very much. I'll try to keep that in mind.

I really think these birds are really neat and love the way they look.
